Northern Michigan Lumber Mill 151 kW Solar Array - 2025
Countryside Energy partnered with Woodhaven Log & Lumber, a family-owned lumber operation in northern Michigan, to bring solar power to their mill. The project features a 151.52 kW ground-mounted solar array that produces about 174,000 kWh of clean energy each year, offsetting roughly 50% of the mill’s annual electricity use.
The Countryside team began by evaluating the facility and understanding Woodhaven’s growing energy needs. As production expanded, new planers, kilns, and ventilation systems increased demand, driving up monthly utility bills
After a site visit, the team and owners determined that a ground-mounted system would deliver the best performance while minimizing impact on daily operations. The system uses 274 Tier 1 550W modules and four 30 kW three-phase grid-tied inverters to efficiently power the site.
Countryside Energy also guided Woodhaven through the EGLE grant process, helping them secure funding to make the project more affordable and improve payback. Now, Woodhaven Log & Lumber is cutting costs, stabilizing energy expenses, and powering its operations sustainably with clean, renewable energy.

Ohio Dairy Farm 144 kW Solar Array - 2025
Countryside Energy helped this multi-generation family-owned and operated dairy farm in western Ohio go solar! The dairy has about 400 cows milked several times a day, and now features a 144 KW solar array on the dairy barn's roof that will produce more than $20,000 a year in electricity and credits for the farm annually.
Our process began by evaluating their farm and better understanding their goals. The family had recently invested in a new sand separation system which improved conditions for their cows and reduced bedding expenses, and also added additional ventilation fans to keep their herd comfortable during the hot summer months.
Both of these investments made great improvements to their operations and animal well-being, but added new large electricity draws and the farm was regularly seeing electricity bills from their local co-op of over $3,000 a month.
After a site visit the Countryside Energy team and the family collaborated on choosing the best part of the farm to install the modules. We considered either a ground-mounted installation or roof installation., The decision was made to mount the modules to the roof of the barn. A rooftop mount minimized the impact of the panels on existing farm operations, and reduced installation costs as well.
